Organisation of the PLR Cadastre: federal government & canton
The PLR Cadastre is an official information system managed jointly by the federal government and the cantons.
The Cadastre of Public Law Restrictions on Landownership (PLR Cadastre) is managed jointly by the federal government and the cantons. The division of tasks is as follows:
Federal government
The federal government defines the strategic orientation of the PLR Cadastre. It specifies the minimum requirements with respect to organisation, administration, harmonisation, data quality, methods and processes, and has entrusted the Federal Office of Topography (swisstopo) with its supervision. Geodesy and Federal Directorate of Cadastral Surveying is the division responsible for this task.
Cantons
The cantons are responsible for organising the management of the PLR Cadastre and for appointing the relevant administrative bodies.
The office in each canton that is responsible for managing the cadastre receives the data to be incorporated into it from the relevant authorities. It manages the data and places them at the disposal of the public via the cantonal PLR geo-portal.
