Land register

The land register is where landowners’ rights are officially recorded. This is essential for safeguarding landownership.

The land register is an official record of the rights pertaining to plots of land. The constitution, amendment, assignment and cancellation of these rights are effected via entries in the land register.

Thanks to the public nature of the land register – a broad variety of data relating to a plot of land may be obtained without the need to demonstrate an interest – the real estate market is rendered transparent. This means that claiming to have no knowledge of an entry in the land register is not accepted as a valid objection in a dispute.
