Cadastral surveying forms the basis for virtually all other geographic data, which are essential for numerous applications in the economy, the public administration and private life. Thus many geographic information systems, for example for district, urban and zoning plans, are based on cadastral survey data, which in their entirety form a national product for which uniform standards have been defined.
