Collection of the cadastral surveying data
The cadastral surveying data are collected, updated and distributed in a smoothly functioning cooperation between a variety of specialised players.
In Switzerland, cadastral surveying data are collected and updated by approximately 3'150 specialists – licensed surveyors – and their colleagues. The data are then processed and updated in a geographic information system (GIS) so that they can be delivered to users as required.
Depending on their area of activity, these specialists complete a variety of training and further education courses in the field of geoinformation.
A variety of work and surveying methods and procedures exist for the collection of cadastral data:
- Terrestrial imaging – data are collected in the field with the aid of a tachymeter
- Levelling – an accurate method of measuring height differences
- Use of global navigation satellite systems – satellite-based positioning systems
- Photogrammetry – flying over a terrain and photographing it from the air
- Laser scanning – flying over a terrain and scanning it with a laser device
Collected data are the property of the canton concerned, which also acts as fee collection authority.
