Additions to the Swiss cadastral system

A supply lines cadastre is to be added to the Swiss cadastral system alongside the cadastral survey, land registry and PLR Cadastre.

Addition of the Cadastre of Public Law Restrictions on Landownership (PLR Cadastre) to the Swiss cadastral system. The Federal Council also wants to add a Swiss supply lines cadastre. Thanks to the new modular cadastral survey data model (DMAV), changes can be effected more efficiently and flexibly.

2014: PLR Cadastre: first cantons go online

For the first time, the Cadastre of Public Law Restrictions on Landownership (PLR Cadastre) can be accessed online in the cantons of Bern, Neuchâtel, Nidwalden, Thurgau and Zurich. These five cantons, plus Geneva, Jura and Obwalden, were pilot cantons for the introduction of an initial phase of the PLR Cadastre. For their own introduction of the PLR Cadastre, all other cantons will be able to benefit from the experiences of these pilot cantons.

2016: transfer of reference frame to LV95

Complete migration of the LV03 national survey to the LV95 national survey.

There are differences between the LV03 and LV95 reference frames. Throughout the country, these vary between zero (Bern) and around one-and-a-half metres (Engadine, Geneva). As a rule, there are also various discrepancies in the cadastral survey data, depending on the quality and date of the survey. These differ from location to location and vary between zero and several centimetres.

With the new LV95 reference frame, it is possible to fully utilise the advantages of GNSS (global navigate satellite system) technology and the new positioning services.

2021: modularity in the cadastral system – new geodata model

Increasingly flexible options are becoming necessary in order to be able to react quickly to changes. In view of this, the legal bases for the cadastral survey are to be revised or amended. At the same time, a new modular data model for the cadastral survey (DMAV) is to be developed and introduced on a step-by-step basis.

2021: PLR Cadastre now accessible online in all cantons

The Cadastre of Public Law Restrictions on Landownership (PLR Cadastre) is now available online in all 26 cantons. This means it is now possible to view landownership restrictions throughout Switzerland without the need to contact the relevant authorities. Switzerland is the first country to provide this service online.

2021: addition of the supply lines cadastre to the cadastral system

In September 2021, the Federal Council requested the Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport (DDPS) to prepare the legal basis for a national supply lines cadastre. Providing up-to-date documentation of the supply lines both above and below the ground will facilitate the planning and risk assessment of construction projects. The first step concerns the preparation of the legal basis for the introduction of a supply lines cadastre in Switzerland.
