On March 31st , 2011, Ueli Maurer, Head of the Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport, accepted the candidacy of the following 8 cantons which have volunteered for the first phase of the pilot project to implement the Cadastre by 2015:
- Canton Thurgau
- Cantons Obwalden and Nidwalden (one joint project)
- Canton Zurich (one part)
- Canton Bern (one part)
- Canton Jura
- Canton Neuchatel and
- Canton Geneva
The rest of the cantons should benefit from this preliminary project and implement the Cadastre by no later than 2019.
